Advocating for Brownfield Cleanup and Assessments Across Ohio
March 11, 2025
On March 5th, National Real Estate Market Leader, Lindsay Crow, presented in front of the Ohio House Development Committee to advocate for the continued funding of the Ohio Brownfield Remediation Program (BRP). This program has been instrumental in the cleanup and assessment of over 600 brownfield sites across 86 of Ohio's 88 counties.
In addition to addressing environmental concerns, the BRP has paved the way for new economic development and revitalization opportunities throughout Ohio. Our team at Verdantas has been proud to support this initiative, helping clients and Land Banks secure $119 million in funding for 41 successful BRP applications since 2021. These efforts have led to significant investments, new jobs, housing units, and improved quality of life for Ohio residents.
However, the work is far from over. Many sites still require cleanup funds to be made available for future redevelopment. That is why Lindsay Crow, with the support of Verdantas, emphasized the need for continued funding along with proposed programmatic changes. These changes will ensure that Ohio remains a prime destination for business expansion, preserving valuable agricultural land and green spaces while attracting new businesses and creating quality jobs, housing, and other opportunities.
