Verdantas (as CT Consultants) worked with SCPC to address several challenges with the site, including its location along a FEMA-regulated floodplain. We designed the site to be elevated above the 100-year flood event plus 2 feet for additional protection.
SCPC's original headquarters building, built in 1943, lacked adequate space for the cooperative's current operational needs. Additionally, the aging facility needed significant investment to sustain workforce requirements at that location. SCPC decided to build a new, modern facility that addressed its needs now and in the future.
A partnership with the City of Lancaster helped secure the project's new location on a 42-acre parcel. The $28 million headquarters building is 120,000 sq ft and includes an office/warehouse and large/small vehicle storage.
The project delivery system was Construction Manager-At-Risk, with our team coordinating with the owner and construction team through all phases of the project to meet project scope, budget, and schedule goals.
In addition, SCPC selected us to design a new $8 million service center facility located on a 10-acre site on US Route 50 opposite the intersection with SR 753. The new service center allows SCPC to provide better and more convenient service to its customer base and local community and improve response time during natural or other disaster situations.
Project includes:
- 29,000 sq ft service center building
- Office/warehouse space
- Vehicle storage
- A two-acre storage and service yard
