Verdantas conducted resiliency analysis and prepared a resiliency report for eight I-81 structures in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. The study focused on present-day climate and future climate conditions and consisted of hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, impact assessment, risk assessment, adaptation design, and cost benefit analysis.
The analysis compared present-day climate conditions to future conditions to understand the vulnerability of the bridge structures, roadway approaches, and river/streams to higher flows resulting from climate change. The risk analysis involved the development of a matrix to characterize and estimate risk associated with each parameter analyzed as part of the impact assessments. Adaptations were developed for each identified potential failure mode based on the estimated risk for each bridge or culvert.
