After more than 40 years of dedicated service in the Environmental Engineering industry, John Hull, Founder of Hull & Associates and esteemed Verdantas colleague, is retiring.

John’s academic journey began as he earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Ohio Northern University and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Stanford University. In 1980, he founded Hull & Associates, where he served as chairman until selling the firm in 2020, making it the platform company of Verdantas.

Throughout his distinguished career, John has been a trusted advisor to clients, helping them solve complex environmental challenges with cost-effective and sustainable solutions. His mentorship shaped the careers of countless colleagues, extending his influence far beyond his firm. John served on Ohio’s Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Release Compensation Board (PUSTRCB) for nine terms, appointed by five successive governors. He also contributed to the western chapter of the World Environmental Dredging Association committee on Beneficial Use Standards, the Sediment Management Work Group, and several other industry roundtables. Additionally, he shared his knowledge and expertise as an Adjunct Professor of Engineering at Ohio Northern University, the University of Toledo, and the University of Michigan.

John’s career spanned both domestic and international projects, including over 200 landfill projects across more than a dozen states, covering all aspects of environmental and engineering services. He also secured patents for technologies addressing environmental issues related to landfills, contaminated sediments, and radioactive waste.

There is much to celebrate about John’s impact on the industry, and certainly at Verdantas. We are deeply grateful for his exceptional service, his wisdom, and his friendship. As he embarks on this new chapter in his life, we wish him a fulfilling and rewarding retirement.
