Director of Health & Safety

Mark Zakrzewski is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with over 14 years of experience as Verdantas’ National Health and Safety Leader and Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).    

Mark’s primary responsibilities include the development and management of effective safety programs, training personnel, providing safety support for complex or non-typical projects, conducting regular internal site safety audits, managing and investigating incidents, fulfilling regulatory requirements, as well as fulfilling our clients’ training and safety performance and reporting requirements. Additionally, Mark is responsible for continuously strengthening Verdantas’ health & safety culture and performance.

As RSO, Mark is responsible for compliance with federal (i.e., U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission) and state requirements for the use of Verdantas’ soil densitometers, which contain small, sealed radioactive sources.  These requirements include employee training and exposure monitoring, as well as ensuring safe transportation, security, and regular calibration, maintenance, and leak testing of the gauges.

In addition, Mark is a Certified Professional Geologist with over 20 years of experience managing environmental due diligence investigations and remediation, underground storage tank release investigations and remediation, and geophysical investigations.
