King Lake is an approximately 263-acre lake located in Pasco County, Florida. Our team (as Flatwoods Consulting, Inc.) was retained to conduct a baseline water quality assessment of the lake to determine the existing trophic state of the lake and to screen for any legacy pesticides or herbicides, and subsequently collect monthly water quality samples to compare to baseline conditions.
Verdantas also performed a Lake Vegetation Index (LVI) to assess the plant communities within King Lake. Based on a rapid field assessment of aquatic and wetland plants, the LVI is a procedure that measures the degree to which a freshwater lake supports a healthy, well-balanced plant community. Sampling was conducted in accordance with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
All collected data goes through an in-house quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) screening process and data is validated or flagged accordingly. A final report will be prepared summarizing the results of the analytical and physical chemistry of King Lake of the baseline and monthly data.
