James Taylor
Government Market Lead
James currently serves as the Government Market Sector Leader. In this role, James develops the company-wide Market Sector goals and ensures consistency in how Verdantas approaches the Government Market and clients across the country. Before becoming the Market Sector Leader, James served as a Staff Engineer, Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, and Civil Group Leader in the Wilmington, Delaware Department over eight years. James also holds the title of Associate Vice President. In 2021, James was recognized with the Outstanding Project Manager Award for outstanding performance as a Project Manager and his consistent display of leadership traits valued by the company, including scheduling, management, proactive communication, collaboration, responsiveness, and client-focused service. James has been recognized as the 2021 Young Engineer of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Delaware Section. In addition, James and his team have been recognized by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Delaware Engineering Excellence Awards, including the Incyte Corporation Campus Expansion (Grand Conceptor Award), Smyrna Downtown Parking Lot Redevelopment (Conceptor Award), and 515 S DuPont Highway (Grand Conceptor Award). In addition, the project at 515 S DuPont Highway was recognized with a Governor's Conservation Award for Urban Design by the Delaware Association of Conservation Districts. James is also a host of the Civil Engineering Podcast, the first podcast dedicated solely to helping civil engineers create extraordinary careers and lives.
Education and Qualifications
James graduated from the University of Delaware with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. He is also a licensed Professional Engineer in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Public Works Association, and the International City/County Management Association. James also serves as the President of the Delaware Engineering Society (NSPE-DE) and previously served as the New Professionals Director on the National Society of Professional Engineers Board of Directors from 2021-2023.
